All About J.P.

This is a list of things that best can be described as "All About J.P." The items below, though numbered for clarity, are not listed in any particular order. Many of these things I talk about in my blog, however, there are some things that I never mention that you might be interested in. Please be advised that with this list, I'm true to my personality and consider hardly anything "off limits". That being said, I am very frank in mentioning some subjects that many would consider taboo. If you feel uncomfortable, feel free to use the BACK button on your browser at any time.

  1. I was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on July 13, 1968. I grew up in a small town near Lake Ontario, halfway between Syracuse and Watertown.
  2. I have many vivid, solid memories going as far back as age 2. I have a few hazy memories from before then.
  3. I had spinal meningitis around my second birthday. I remember seeing the "white light" then and meeting my great-grandmother. She had died in 1966. It was 1970.
  4. I still have two treasured toys from my childhood - a stuffed cat from when I was less than a year old and a stuffed rabbit that I remember getting coming out of the hospital after the meningitis.
  5. Growing up I was bored with school and did what I needed to do to get through. I was a B+ student. I did most of my homework at the last minute. I completed tests as fast as possible, because if I didn't know it right away, I figured it wasn't worth knowing. Still, I was in the National Honor Society.
  6. I never really wanted to go to college but I did because that was what was expected of me. What else was I going to do? I went to school to be a instrumental music teacher. If I was going to be a music teacher, I wanted to teach vocal music, and while I was in every 'select' and 'chosen' choir in high school, SUNY Fredonia felt I couldn't sing (too pop) and wouldn't let me in based on my voice. I went in as a tuba player instead. It was easy, tuba players are rare.
  7. I've been attracted to the same sex for as long as I can remember. I remember finding a male classmate 'cute' when I was in 2nd grade.
  8. I admitted my homosexuality to myself when I was 17. I stopped denying it to anyone that asked when I turned 18. I did something about it before I was 19.
  9. Sexually I am mostly a top.
  10. That previous can change depending on my mood.
  11. I have never been succesfully sexually intimate with a woman, though I did try a couple of times. There just wasn't any excitement in the ordeal for me at all.
  12. I don't have any tattoos, but I would like to get one on my right leg. It will be a triquetra.
  13. My left ear has been pierced since 1990. I had it done in the Chautauqua Mall in Jamestown, N.Y.
  14. My right nipple was pierced from November 1995 to February 1996. It wouldn't heal properly and wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be.
  15. My nipples are much more sensitive now.
  16. I have a fascination with facial hair. It's the first thing I notice on a man.
  17. I write the letter "v" backwards, as in right to left. I do the same thing with multiple digit numbers.
  18. When I eat, I eat all of one thing before moving on to the next. If I'm eating a salad, I'll eat all of one vegetable before moving on to the next. I used to do that with sub sandwiches but not so much anymore. Except meatball or eggplant subs, I still eat all the insides first, then the bread.
  19. I hate toothpicks. I don't like looking at them or touching them and certainly would never consider using one.
  20. I was baptized and raised as a Methodist for the most part, though we did attend a 'Christian' (born again?) church for a little while when I was in elementary school. I don't really believe in organized religion and I'm not a religious person. However, I am a spiritual person. I think 'God' is bigger than being a 'he' or a 'she', so I address God as 'they' or 'them'. My spiritual beliefs are probably closest to the earth-based philosophies such as Wicca.
  21. I believe there's life after death, life before birth and something much more significant than what we experience here on Earth.
  22. I do believe that the famous psychics (John Edward, Sylvia Browne, etc.) can do as they claim for the most part. I just wish they didn't do it for money or fame.
  23. I admire my father very much. He's always level headed.
  24. I'm going to be a private pilot someday.
  25. I've been in three long-term relationships. Tom for 2 years, 1st Earl for 4 years and Earl forever.
  26. I believe that it is futile for a human being to limit their sexual urges to one other person for the rest of their lives.
  27. My first car was a 1974 Chevy Vega.
  28. My current car is a 2005 Acura RSX Type-S.
  29. I've applied to be on two reality shows, Big Brother 4 (in which I got a callback) and Survivor 6 (which I never heard from). I didn't pursue either afterwards, I decided I'm not into the reality show thing that much.
  30. I am very bitter about the cancellation of "Judging Amy".
  31. I was a Top 40 radio disc-jockey for 12 years. I was also a station Program Director and Director of Operations during some of that time.
  32. My favorite aspect of radio is designing the sound of the station, including jingles and liners.
  33. I've learned to live life without any regrets. It's a journey. It's a learning experience. Good choices, bad choices, there is something to be learned with it all.
  34. I wish I had the opportunity to ride the Concorde before it was decommissioned.
  35. I enjoy sitting at airports and watching planes land and take-off, even at night. I take pictures.
  36. I enjoy driving at night.
  37. I am more of a night owl than a morning person.
  38. I value my sleep.
  39. I am a superhero fanatic. Not so much comic books but the live-action stuff. My absolute favorite are from the "Shazam/Isis Hour" (Captain Marvel and Isis) that was shown in the mid 70s on CBS. "Wonder Woman" comes in as a really close second.
  40. I have always secretly wished that I was a superhero.
  41. I have a bump around the left side of my waist that appeared after a missing time episode in 1990. I also have crazy memories from when I was teen that involved lights, a lot of loud hums and sleepwalking.
  42. I still sleepwalk from time to time. Earl steers me back to bed.
  43. I'm a full-time college student at the local community college. I am earning my degree in Civil Engineering. I hope to work for the state department of transportation as a traffic engineer when all is said and done. Sometimes I think I should use my Engineering skills for better purposes shuch as helping with the rebuiling of New Orleans.
  44. I remember 99% of my dreams. I often write them down. I believe dreams are more significant than most humans think they are.
  45. I want to explore the area around Area 51 like the other die-hard geeks do.
  46. I love the desert. If I had my way, I'd live in the most environmentally friendly home I could muster about 50 miles from my closest neighbor somewhere in the middle of the Arizona desert. I'd hope to be self-sufficient doing engineering consulting from this remote location.
  47. I seriously want to visit the North Pole, or at least the Canadian research station at Alert, Nunavut.
  48. I despise doctors. I believe that a once noble profession has been destroyed by the pharmacutical companies and that the American public has become entirely too chemically dependent.
  49. While I don't believe as a Scientologist, I think that they have a valid argument when it comes to the chemical dependence of the American population.
  50. I tend to rant from time to time. When I rant I usually leap from one subject to the next without any cohesiveness between the two. I get loud and boisterous, but that doesn't mean that I'm angry or upset. I'm just loud.
  51. Telling me to calm down usually results in the opposite.
  52. I believe the American public as a whole has become nothing more than a herd of sheep, believing anything that is spoonfed to them by news outlets that are controlled by an elite few. What I find incredibly frightening is that many are afraid to question and that many are afraid to speak up.
  53. As a child I was often "afraid" of my grandfather because he was loud, brash and opinionated. Now that he's gone, I miss him very much, as I respect his passion for a subject (but not necessarily his views).
  54. While I have always been a fan of Rosie O'Donnell (since her Star Search days), over the past couple of years I have developed an admiration and respect for her. I believe that she, along with her partner Kelli, are doing wonderful things in this world. I also believe that she is often misunderstood, misquoted and misrepresented. She and I carry many of the same beliefs that scare many of the "sheeple".
  55. As a full-time college student, I never expected to enjoy the class "Introduction to Sociology". I was pleasantly surprised to the point that I look forward to each lecture.
  56. Even though I profess to be quite candid in my blog, there are some things that I won't share. I would share them face to face though.
  57. There are some things that I've only shared with Earl. I trust him implicitly.
  58. My love for Earl is augmented by the awe I feel for him. It's been over a decade and I still get goosebumps when we walks into the room.
  59. While I try really hard to be a social person, and I enjoy a social setting without an issue, I tend to whittle my friends down to a select few. I'm not one for having a whole group of friends as I feel most comfortable when I have a small number of confidants.
  60. I learned at a very early age not to type it or post it on the internet if you don't want it to appear on the front page of the NY Times. That's a rule I still live by.
  61. When I was in the semi-finals for Big Brother 4, they wanted to know if there were "scandalous" things out there that could be brought forward if I made it on the show. My answer was "yes". They were delighted.
  62. Hollywood's recent trend of "reimagining" is driving me insane. While Nicole Kidman would have made an *excellent* Samantha Stephens, the movie version of "Bewitched" was a train wreck of enoromous proportions. Now we have "Bionic Woman", which is nothing like the original save for the name of the lead character. I long for the days when people had imagination and actually used it.
